Regarding the nature of the mind

-A person has the ability to direct his thoughts as he wills and focus them on any place he wants.
- It is impossible for two thoughts to exist at once. Even when his mind wonder off, thinking foreign unwanted thoughts, a person has the ability to force it in a straight path, to think what he wills.
- The mind is like a horse, when it varies from the path, one grabs it by the reigns and forces it back on to the path. So too one can grab his thoughts and forcefully bring them back to the path he wants.
- As extraneous thoughts arise one pushes them away. They then return a second and then a third time. If a person keeps on pushing them away they stop and do not come back. This is very important to know, since most people give up after a thought returns for a second and third time. Know that it is natural for this to happen, and after the forth, fifth time they will be gone.
- The evil inclination of a person acts in a similar manner and must be pushed away a number of times before the desire is nullified.
