Regarding the 70 sacrifices of Succot

- Every day of Succot, 14 sheep, 1 goat and a decreasing number of calves were sacrificed on the alter.
- On the first day 13 calves were sacrificed as the holiday continued the number was decreased by one per day. First 13 then 12 then 11...etc...
- The seventy sacrifices were brought to counter the seventy nations.
- It works out very good for the Zohar teaches that the seventy nations were divided. Half under the domain of Yishmuel and half under the domain of Edom. Both of these nations are sometimes seen in reference as goats, creatures emanating from the other side. Yishmuel which was the more unsorted zuhma removed from Avraham is referred to as “Sair Ezim”, a goat, with the species. Esav who was a release of the finer tuned zuhma and came from the second generation of Yitzchok is referred to a “Sair” by itself. The goat sacrificed every day indicated which of the two parts was being processed that day. On the 1st, 2nd and 4th day the total sacrifices equaled 35, it says, “Sair Ezim”, while all the other days it says, “Sair.”
